CONSTRUCTION / EVERYDAY ACCESS

Gate Construction & Installation in St. Albert & Edmonton.

A gate should suit the opening and the way you use it. We plan garden gates, fence gates and wider access openings around the fence, support posts, hardware and ground beneath the swing.

CONSTRUCTION / JPPM

A useful opening.
A properly planned gate.

The best starting point is what needs to pass through: people, bins, a mower or equipment. From there we review opening width, privacy, swing direction and the relationship to the existing fence. We can assess a gate with a new fence or as a replacement project. Your quote identifies the gate, supports, hardware and any removal or adjoining fence work so that the complete opening is considered, not just the panel between the posts.

THE WORK / CLEAR INCLUSIONS

Gate Construction & Installation.

01 / GARDEN & SIDE-YARD GATES

Garden & side-yard gates

A practical opening for everyday use, planned around privacy and the route between the front and back yard. Handle position and the space to open the gate matter as much as its appearance.

02 / WIDE-ACCESS GATES

Wide-access gates

Discuss access for equipment, trailers or larger items early. A wider span changes the support and hardware requirements; the layout must also account for the ground and usable space on either side.

03 / REPLACEMENT GATES

Replacement gates

A dragging, damaged or awkward gate may need more than a new latch. We assess the leaf, posts, connections and clearance before proposing a replacement or the work needed around it.

A PROPERTY-SPECIFIC APPROACH

Plan the details before the work begins.

01

Plan the opening around what goes through it.

Measure the items you need to move and show us the approach to the opening. A nominal gate width can differ from the usable clear passage once posts, hinges and stops are considered. We review obstructions, changes in level and the position of nearby buildings or planting. For a larger opening, single and double-leaf arrangements can be compared before the design is settled.

02

Posts and hardware are part of the gate.

The gate’s size and weight influence how it should be supported. We consider existing post condition, hinge connections, latch alignment and the surrounding fence rather than assuming old supports will carry a new leaf. Hinges, catches, stops and any hold-open requirements are selected for the intended use. If a support or foundation needs replacing, it should be included in the agreed work.

03

Leave room for the way the yard changes.

Ground rises, paths, snow accumulation and regular wear can affect how a gate opens. We look at the proposed swing and clearance in the context of the property. Tell us about pets, children, locks and any specific access requirements so these can inform the layout. Gates intended for a regulated enclosure or other specialised purpose need their applicable requirements confirmed before the scope is accepted.

PRICING / THE COMPLETE SCOPE

What shapes your quote.

Gate pricing depends on the clear opening, material, height, leaf arrangement, support posts and hardware. Removing an old gate, replacing supports, connecting to the fence and difficult access can change the total. We quote the complete agreed installation rather than assuming all openings need the same construction. Final scope, materials, disposal and applicable GST are confirmed in writing; approved changes may change the price.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Useful questions, answered.

Can you add a gate to an existing fence?

We can assess the fence and supports to see what is needed to create a suitable opening. The quote may include new posts or changes to adjacent fence sections.

Can a wide opening have two gate leaves?

Yes, a paired arrangement can be discussed. The width, support, ground clearance and latching arrangement need to suit the property and intended use.

Do I have to replace the whole fence?

Not automatically. We review the condition and connection points before deciding what can stay and what needs to be rebuilt.

Can the gate match a new fence project?

Yes. Planning the fence and gate together helps coordinate material, height, access and the supporting structure.
