Hedge shaping
Maintain an established shape or discuss a proposed size change. The crew considers plant type, current growth and access to the agreed sides. A major reduction is assessed separately from a routine maintenance trim.
BUILD · IMPROVEHedge trimming and shrub care to maintain an agreed shape or improve clearance around paths, gates and entrances. Send photos of the full planting; timing, access, clipping collection and disposal are confirmed in your quote.
Maintain the shape of an established hedge, tidy individual shrubs or recover clearance around a gate, path or entrance. The plants and the amount of growth to remove guide the work; collection and disposal of clippings are confirmed before the visit.
Request an established-shape trim, individual shrub care or an assessment of overgrowth. Share the full height and length, the sides the crew can reach and the finish you want.

Request care for the individual shrubs that need attention. Species and flowering habits guide suitable timing and the amount removed; describe whether flowers, shape or clearance are your main priority.
Collect clippings created by the agreed trimming work from the affected areas. Confirm bagging, removal and disposal in the quote, particularly for long, dense or overgrown hedges that create substantial material.
If the hedge is already close to the size you want, explain the finish and areas that need attention. Photos of its full length and access help establish the work and whether ongoing visits would suit the property.
A major size reduction is a different conversation from a routine trim. Identify the plants and the size you hope to achieve. The existing condition and plant type guide what can reasonably be proposed before cutting begins.
A clipped hedge, an informal flowering shrub and a young tree should not all be cut the same way. Species, bloom time and the condition of older wood affect what trimming can achieve. A very overgrown hedge may need staged correction rather than an aggressive cut in one visit. University of Minnesota Extension explains that pruning is most effective when it follows the plant’s growth habit and purpose. We identify the plants and discuss the desired finished shape before setting the scope.
Trimming often starts with a practical issue: growth across a walkway, near a driveway, against siding or around an entrance. The work can improve clearance and make the garden look cared for. It does not necessarily mean reducing every shrub to the same height. We look for hidden fences, lights, irrigation lines and nesting activity, and agree on how much material will be removed. Tall hedges, large branches and work near utilities may need a different specialist scope.
Flowering shrubs can lose a season of blooms if trimmed at the wrong time; some bloom on older wood, while others bloom on new growth. The timing of a maintenance visit should reflect that difference. Clippers and trimmers also create a surprising volume of debris, so the quote should say whether collection, bagging and removal are included. For recurring care, a light regular trim can be easier to maintain than waiting until growth obstructs paths or obscures windows.
Length, height, density, access and clipping volume affect trimming time. Share the full hedge or shrub area rather than only a close-up. We identify the intended shaping, cleanup and disposal so you know which plants and surfaces are included in the visit.

A light shape-up, walkway clearance and a substantial size reduction are different jobs. The hedge’s height, length and accessible sides affect the work.
Flowering habits influence pruning timing. Tell us the plant name if known and whether preserving blooms is a priority. Major tree work and work near utilities need separate assessment.
$84.60 per labour-hour, with a minimum charge of three labour-hours ($253.80). The quote identifies the hedges or shrubs, agreed shaping or clearance, access and clipping collection.
Labour-hours count each worker’s time: two people working for one hour provide two labour-hours. Disposal is $4.00 per bag and is additional to the labour charge.
Published starting prices and minimum charges are subject to property size, layout, access, difficulty, condition and the work requested. Larger or more demanding properties, heavier buildup, additional areas and changes to the agreed scope may cost more. Your written quote confirms the final price, inclusions, disposal and applicable GST before approval.
