HOW IT WORKS / 04Details that matter when weather changes.
The approved agreement and terms set the binding scope; the guidance below helps you plan a useful quote.
01 / 06
How the route works
Customers are assigned to organized routes rather than receiving an individual dispatch for each snowfall. Crews generally start around 6:00 AM when snow is already accumulating, or when accumulation begins after that time. A route has an order, and weather, traffic, snowfall intensity and access conditions affect how long it takes to reach each home. We do not promise that every driveway will be clear before a particular hour. Route position is based on operational factors, not customer-selected priority. Before-8 AM service may be requested with at least 48 hours’ notice for $20.00 plus GST per visit, subject to availability.
02 / 06
The snowfall trigger and timing standard
A snowfall becomes active once snow actually begins accumulating. Flurries that melt on contact do not call for an immediate route start. If accumulation begins overnight or before 10:00 AM, residential customers will generally receive service the same day. If accumulation begins after 10:00 AM, service will generally occur the following day. Our overall commitment is to complete service within 24 hours after the snowfall ends, subject to major storms, prolonged snowfall, unsafe conditions, blocked access and the Terms & Conditions. The timing language describes the route standard, not an exact appointment.
03 / 06
What your plan covers
Driveways, front walkways and adjoining city sidewalks are standard inclusions unless your approved quote explicitly excludes them. Your quote confirms the property-specific frontage and any exclusions. A corner property may have a second street frontage and substantially more sidewalk. Side paths, rear walks, bin access, secondary doors and patios can be requested as additional areas. Normal route areas come first; requested additional areas are completed during the visit when operational time allows, with exceptions that may be considered for genuine emergency or accessibility needs.
04 / 06
Service during ongoing snowfall
A long storm does not always allow crews to wait until the final flake. We may visit while snow is still falling to keep a route moving and prevent a much larger accumulation from building up. Snow that lands after the crew leaves can cover the freshly cleared surface. That does not automatically mean the earlier visit was incomplete. Drifting, vehicle compaction, municipal windrows and refreezing can also change conditions after service. Under the 10 AM rule, if we complete your visit while it is still snowing, you can expect us back the following day for continued accumulation, subject to the agreed terms and exceptional conditions.
05 / 06
Snow placement and growing banks
Snow needs a practical storage location on the property. The available space can shrink over a long winter as banks grow. That can narrow a driveway or leave less room near a walkway, fence or landscaped area. Customers should identify delicate or hidden features before the season. Pushing back an established bank, relocating a pile or hauling snow off site is generally additional work. We discuss those options when storage becomes an issue rather than implying routine clearing includes unlimited snow removal.
06 / 06
Ice management and service records
Snow removal and ice management are related but distinct. The optional Ice Melt Add-On can be applied as needed after snowfalls or during freeze-thaw conditions, at $2.00 per pound based on actual use. This charge covers the product and additional ice-management care time. Rock chips may provide traction when melt product is unsuitable and are included with regular snow service where applicable. Severe ice buildup may require approved manual removal at $40 per hour. Customers receive email visit notifications and documentation so they can refer to a service record rather than wonder whether a visit occurred.
Without the Ice Melt Add-On, routine snow clearing does not include continual scraping of packed snow or ice or a bare-pavement expectation. If you apply your own ice melt, you remain responsible for managing ice buildup; additional crew assistance follows the agreed scope.
CORNER FRONTAGECorner-lot sidewalk snow clearing.
A corner lot may have a second street-facing sidewalk, boulevard area and curbside edge that take extra time on each regular visit. The Corner Lot Add-On starts at $49.99 per month; your quote identifies the specific frontage it covers. The goal is thorough edge-to-edge clearing toward pavement where normal conditions allow. Rear walks, patios and other customer-requested areas remain separate from the standard route scope and are completed during the visit when operational time allows, with approved emergency or accessibility exceptions.
ONE-TIME SNOW CLEARINGOne-time and holiday snow removal.
One-time residential clearing, including holiday requests, can be considered when our crews have capacity. Holiday availability is not guaranteed and is confirmed for the particular request. We quote the property, the accumulation, the areas to clear and any ice or snow-storage work before accepting the job. A one-time visit is not a standing route position or a monthly timing commitment. Availability, arrival window and price are confirmed for that request, so you can decide whether it meets your needs. If you want dependable service throughout the season, the monthly contract is the intended plan.
QUESTIONS / 05
Before winter starts.
When will my driveway be cleared?
Your driveway will be cleared on its service day, generally between 6 AM and 10 PM. Routes take all day, and individual customers cannot select their route position or receive priority; sequencing follows operational factors. Before-8 AM service is available for $20.00 plus GST per visit with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to availability.
What if it keeps snowing after my visit?
We may visit during an active storm. Following the 10 AM rule, if your service is completed and it is still snowing, you can expect us back the following day for the continued accumulation, subject to the service terms and exceptional conditions.
Are city sidewalks included?
Yes. City sidewalks adjoining the property, front walkways and driveways are standard inclusions unless explicitly excluded in your approved quote. A corner lot’s additional street frontage is identified and priced through the Corner Lot Add-On.
Can I add a rear path or bin area?
Yes, ask for it to be listed in the plan. Standard route areas take priority; additional areas are completed when operational time allows.
