Removal and preparation tailored to the condition of the existing area.
Soil preparation and grades considered before fresh turf is installed.
New sod laid with clear guidance for the establishment period.
Tell us whether the area is bare soil and what preparation has already been completed. Reviewing the grades, soil surface and watering arrangements helps define what is still required before sod arrives.
A replacement can involve more than removing old grass. Explain the shade, wear or drainage problems you have noticed. We assess the preparation needed so the new sod is part of a considered lawn improvement rather than simply a change of surface.
A sod installation is more than a delivery of rolls. Before recommending replacement, look at why the existing lawn failed: shade, traffic, irrigation coverage, compacted soil or water sitting in a low area can affect the new turf too. The site may need old grass removed, soil brought in, surface grades corrected or access planned for material and equipment. We define those items in the quote so the customer knows whether the work is a surface refresh or a more complete lawn rebuild.
Fresh sod needs close contact with prepared soil. Smooth grading, tight seams and careful transitions at patios, sidewalks and garden beds make the finished lawn look intentional. Newly laid turf also needs prompt watering. University of Minnesota Extension recommends keeping new sod and the underlying soil moist while roots establish, then changing the watering pattern as rooting progresses. Actual frequency depends on temperature, rain, soil and the irrigation system; a rigid calendar is less useful than checking the soil beneath the sod.
A new lawn needs the customer to be ready for watering before installation day. Ask where hoses reach, whether an automatic system covers all areas and who will monitor moisture when the property is unattended. Heavy use should wait while the turf begins to root. The first mowing should be timed to establishment and ground firmness rather than a fixed date. If grades or drainage are the reason the old lawn struggled, address those conditions first; sod alone will not correct them.
Sod installation pricing depends on area, turf removal, soil preparation, grading, disposal and delivery access. Compare what each proposal includes before comparing the total. Watering arrangements and any related irrigation or drainage work should be discussed early, especially if you will be away during establishment.
Pricing is quoted for the property. Size, site conditions, access, materials and the agreed work affect the total. Scope or material changes may change the price; the quote confirms inclusions, disposal and applicable GST before work begins.

New installation starts with the available ground; replacement may require existing turf removal and rebuilding the soil beneath it. Compare those preparation scopes, not just the sod area.
Plan watering and reduced traffic during establishment. Discuss the first mowing before the new lawn joins a regular cutting route.
We can assess a defined repair as well as a whole-lawn replacement. Photographs and approximate dimensions help establish the preparation and how the new sod will meet the retained lawn.
