YOUR PROPERTY / A DEFINED SCOPE

A considered shape.
A clearer property.

Hedges and shrubs can frame a home beautifully, but growth across a walkway or around an entrance can quickly become a practical nuisance. JPPM reviews Edmonton hedge-trimming enquiries around the plants, desired finish and access. The aim is a tidy result suited to the landscape, rather than reducing every plant to the same height.

Tell us whether you want to maintain an established shape, improve clearance or review an overgrown area. Photos showing the full length and height are useful, along with the sides the crew can reach. A routine trim and a major size reduction require different assessments, so the scope begins with the actual condition of the plants.

THE PLANT GUIDES THE WORK

Shape with
the growth in mind.

A formal hedge and an informal flowering shrub do not need identical treatment. Plant type, current size and the condition of the growth affect the work that can be proposed. Identify the plants if you know them and explain the preferred shape before cutting starts. A photograph of the whole bed can also show how the hedge relates to other planting.

Pruning timing depends on plant growth and flowering habits. University of Minnesota Extension explains that plants flowering on the previous season’s growth need different timing from those flowering on new growth. We consider that distinction instead of promising a single trimming date for every species. Read the Extension pruning guide.

CLEARANCE & ACCESS

Make the everyday
routes work again.

Walkways, driveways, siding, gates and windows are common reasons to request trimming. Describe the clearance you need and any features hidden in the plants. Fences, landscape lighting and irrigation can affect access to the work. We discuss the sides to be trimmed and the intended reduction so the finished boundary is clear.

A substantially overgrown hedge may need a different approach from a light maintenance cut. Some reductions are better considered in stages, depending on the plant and condition. Tall growth, large branches or work near utilities may call for a specialist scope. We assess the request before accepting it, keeping the proposed work appropriate to the site and our available operation.

THE FINISHED VISIT

Include the clippings
in the conversation.

Trimming can produce a sizeable amount of material. The quote should identify clipping collection, bagging and removal, together with the areas that will be left tidy. Hedge length, height, density and access all affect labour and disposal. Share the full area rather than only the section nearest the driveway so the estimate covers the work you expect.

For ongoing care, trimming can be coordinated with separately agreed garden-bed maintenance or lawn mowing. Commercial properties can include hedges and shrubs in a grounds plan with defined priorities. If the planting layout needs a larger change, we can discuss new beds or landscape improvements separately from the maintenance visit.

GOOD TO KNOW

Before we begin.

Can you reduce a very overgrown hedge?

Send photos and the size you hope to achieve. The plant type, growth and condition guide what can reasonably be proposed; a major reduction is assessed separately from routine trimming.

Is clipping disposal included?

The quote identifies collection and disposal for the agreed work. Tell us whether material should be removed from the property.

Can trimming be arranged with garden maintenance?

Yes. We can coordinate the services while defining the trimming and bed-care scope clearly in your proposal.

BEFORE THE FIRST CUT

Agree on the shape.
Plan the cleanup.

A light shape-up, walkway clearance and a substantial size reduction are different jobs. The hedge’s height, length and accessible sides affect the work.

Flowering habits influence pruning timing. Tell us the plant name if known and whether preserving blooms is a priority. Major tree work and work near utilities need separate assessment.

PRICING / YOUR PROPERTY

Hedge trimming
from $253.80 per visit.

$84.60 per labour-hour, with a minimum charge of three labour-hours ($253.80). The quote identifies the hedges or shrubs, agreed shaping or clearance, access and clipping collection.

Labour-hours count each worker’s time: two people working for one hour provide two labour-hours. Disposal is $4.00 per bag and is additional to the labour charge.

Published starting prices and minimum charges are subject to property size, layout, access, difficulty, condition and the work requested. Larger or more demanding properties, heavier buildup, additional areas and changes to the agreed scope may cost more. Your written quote confirms the final price, inclusions, disposal and applicable GST before approval.
